i would like to thank william powell, jgnat, rabbit and shera for making me feel welcome my first day here and not jumping to any paranoid conclusions because i have lurked here for a while and had to change my old alias because for some reason it would not log in.lol.
( i got some very strange responses my first day here).
i was also the laugh of the place for a few people here because i accidentally resurrected a very old post (couldnt see the itty bitty tiny numbers of the date)i guess they did not notice (except for one) that i was a newbie and i am getting use to the features here.i guess they forgot what its like to be new.. .

so i'm reading this book you can't afford the luxury of a negative thought, by peter mcwilliams and this chapter jumped out at me, i'll quote it below because to me it totally answers the jw dogma and how ingrained that feeling of never being good enough, or just plain enough.
i would be interested in some feed back if you have any.. where does negative thinking come from?.
part i page 49.. why do we use the power of our mind to create a negative reality?
Hi Kate
Excellent article you posted there.
Yup, that little vulture bird of put downs can take a permanent roost on one's shoulder. the little Twit..I'd like to get my hands around his scrawny little neck sometimes...Grrr.
I especially liked the comparisons with our world now and that of Beethoven and Motzart... The mass media, T.V. radio.. etc.
I remember listening to my great grandma telling me how on a summer evening after the work was done they'd all sit on the front porch and sing and play their instruments and they thought they were such good singers and players. They didn't have a T.V. or radio to listen to nor did they see the best of the best so they thought they were just awesome singers.
My other grandparents built a little dance floor out by the road in front of their farm. On Friday nights the neighbours would come from up and down the road and they would have a dance. Bet they were pretty darn good dancers in their small community and never had all those fancy dance lessons either. Everything was fun..until Grampie got caught bootleggin (true). It was hard times, the depression..big families and trying to get his family through.
Great topic post, kate
Negativity can really eat you up, can't it?

how sorry i was to hear from dansk-he is going through a very difficult time.. i would like all prayers, thoughts, please keep this in mind ____ for me!!!!.
the sad news he has cancer.it is lymphoma!!!
they are waiting on the results of the biopsy before determining treatment..... he didnt want me to say anything at first- as he feels you all have your own problems & he didnt want to upset anyone-because he says "they are dear friends".
Hi Ian
Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your family. I check your posts here very often to see how you are doing.
If I had a magic wand Ian,I would wish all this cancer away.
The road you are on takes twists and turns in how to approach this foe.
Being in pain and really uncomfortable leaves one drained. A day or two is one thing but if it gets painful for any length of time.. is very draining.
If it has swollen that much under the arm I suspect it is cutting into your sleep time, too. Sleep deprivation is another culprit..
On a side note, Ian.
Could you recommend a book ot two on buddhism. something I might like to read just to investigate it's beliefs and philosophy. Does it's beliefs help keep one grounded?
love

i am feeling pretty negative today.
i got a call from a family member (a successfully faded family member) who asked me if i was going to another family member?s wedding.
i told him i had not been invited.
Oh,.. I'm so happy for ya Purza.
Happy that you got this straightened out with your friend.
As you said, you did ask her to tell you.. and then she did.
sometimes we don't know how much something really hurts until after we get the information. That happens to me sometimes too.
Sounds like she is a good person who showed compassion when you went back and told her it really hurt.
I agree with Bikerchic.. good true friends are hard to find
Glad it all worked out (at least with her).
(( Hugs to you Purza ))

so, i'm in the basement for most of the afternoon, watching a little tv, do a little study, search the net, and i have three flies bugging the heck out of me.
just swarming over my head.
above me is the ceiling light, and the light from the monitor plus the little 13" tv, they just fly around buging me.
Wow RR.. good use of a Watchtower..
sounds like you will need heavier equipment for that last persistent fly..
Try the "New World Translation"..lol
When there is a fly in our house we just bring in our new kitty.. He really goes on a seek and destroy mission with any flies in our house...and then eats them.. Ewwwww!.
If you lived closer to me RR.. I'd bring over my "Lean Mean Fly Cat-ching Machine".

who has read this book?
im in the middle of it and its pretty good.
has some interesting information, although i wonder if anyone believes all the information in it.
I read that book.
I enjoyed it..
and have now started his book "Angels and Demons".. same kind of story line.
"robert Langdon, symbologist summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. He discovers a deadly vendetta against the catholic church.. by a century old group called the Illuminati. Along with a beautiful woman scientist they embark on a frantic hunt through crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and the most secretive vaults on earth..the long forgotten Illumnati lair."

hi, gang!
alot of you were a huge support to me 4 months ago, when i was unfairly fired from my job with the board of education, so i wanted to update you all with good news.. first of all, i've received my hearing date with the state labor board for the 5th of october.
and second, i've got an interview with a company only 5 minutes from my home for a customer service position for a liturgical publishing company!
Hi Terri.
Arrowstar is right..
just a speed bump..
I like to ramp over those so I get all the lift I need...
Think of it as a jump booster, something will come up..

two elders approached me yesterday afternoon while i was doing a bit of work on my car.
unsuccessful at reaching me in my home (mostly because i don't answer the doorbell when they come) they saw me outside and decided to stop to talk.
the conversation did not go especially well.
Hi rocketman.. I'm glad you posted about this visit you had.
you said in your summation:
Looking back on the conversation, it confimed my reason for avoiding contact with Jehovah's Witnesses elders.
Sounds like that their visit really did confirm your reason for leaving and avoiding them. I guess you have no doubts about leaving the J.W.'s after this visit.
And you are right, they talk with a cocksuredness that they are totally right. There is no open minded thinking in there to consider any other line of thought whatsoever. They are their to convert you, bring you back...or sometimes to cut you off.
They are a product of cult like teachings aren't they.
I thought you did an excellent job in conversing with them Rman. .. and you remembered a lot of the conversation...
Good post..

my brother's wife gave birth this afternoon to a 5lb 7oz baby boy.
he was five weeks early (we knew he would be a preemie) and both mom and baby are well.
it's quite a relief really.
Hi Mulan
I dropped back in cause I just knew you'd find some way to get a picture up here....
